The Surfer's Encyclopedia

Surferpedia is an encyclopedia similar to Wikipedia - the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. Both allow visitors to review and modify articles simply by clicking on the edit this article link. However, Surferpedia differs to Wikipedia insofar as it covers more surf-related topics in far greater detail than would be appropriate on Wikipedia.

Front cover

Scum Valley is a novel based at Bondi Beach, during the 1980s, when gentrification forced many working class families to leave the district in search of more affordable housing. It was written by Bondi surfer, Matthew Ellks. The story has a David and Goliath twist to it as a rich kid waltzes into town and sets up a surf shop and begins winning friends and influencing people. A staunch local named Dan has a run in with him and so starts a feud that lasts for a decade. Dan eventually opens his own shop and the fallout between rival surf shop clubs divides opinions and sets a precedent for ongoing battles that are fought in the streets and in the water.
