Maroubra is a beachside suburb in south-eastern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The name comes from the local Aboriginal word for like thunder, describing the sound of the surf pounding against the rocks. In 2006, Maroubra Beach was declared a National Surfing Reserve.
